Jeff,
What I'm seeing is a variety of methods, no one model. I found the REVEAL study interesting in that it showed different strategies for different developmental levels. Most of our discipleship efforts are still cognitive, and focused on understanding beliefs. What I believe we must focus on on spiritual practices and relationships.
Jeff,
I blew by Allen this week and thought of you. I was heading to see my son and daughter in law and attend a conference. What trends do you see in how we disciple believers?
Hi, I'm Freddy Cardoza, a friend of Clint Hayes (MegaEducators) and an acquaintance of several of the churches and/or leaders of your group. Let me welcome you.
I created this site for encouraging networking between those in educational ministry and in higher Christian education teaching (or both, as the case may be). I teach CE at Midwestern Seminary, where I serve as Associate VP of Academics (Assoc. Dean), and I have also been serving at Westside Church, Omaha as the Education Pastor Interim.
With that in mind, I am helping them search for an Education Pastor. If you have a colleague at First Allen or a friend elsewhere who may be interested in this good church (largest in Omaha, great part of town, worship @ 2300ish), please alert me or have them contact me. I'm currently searching.
Thank you~ and I hope to talk to you sometime. For now, welcome.
P.S. Let me invite you and all other MegeEducators to join the SPECIFIC GROUP I created just for you, so you can connect before/after your annual meeting.
One other thing... I hear good things about the Ed.D. with DBU. They've done lots of good stuff lately and that program has grown well. I think I have some friends who teach over there from time to time. Anyway, congrats.
